Ianthe is a quintessential example of French Art Nouveau design, originally created as a wallpaper border by artist R. Beauclair in c.1902 and printed for Liberty in 1967. Ianthe Mono is a one-colour version of Ianthe – discovered hidden in the archive, it evokes the forms first used by Liberty in the ‘60s. The textured non-woven ground is softly visible through the chalky pigments layered on top.
