Taken from an early 19th Century silk Abra smock from Central Asia which is housed in the G P & J Baker Archive, ‘Zaraband’ is a softly tonal ikat. Magnificent Abra Kurtas were worn by women to impress and show power, and until the end of the 19th Century such goods were reserved for the aristocracy.
