The inspiration for this design was taken from a crewelwork embroidered bed hanging by Abigail Pett, which she embroidered between 1680-1700 and is now housed at the Victoria and Albert Museum. The bed hanging was first redrawn in the late 19th century by Gertrude Jekyll who was sent by George Percival Baker to Bosworth Hall near Nuneaton as part of the renovation of the Hall. Baker has regularly reproduced this design since 1895.
