Arden is a mid 15th century forest design which was discovered in a house in Halifax in 1901. The scene depicts a forest floor richly studded with clusters of small flowers. Amongst the trees are rabbits hedgehogs horned sheep squirrels wild fowl moles deer and a handsome unicorn. This style of wall painting reminiscent of tapestries was found all over Britain. The design is printed on luxurious velvet in two colourways and on linen in two colourways.
